Below Fifteen? Idiot!

Final Week (Bah!) is now over. In a move of sheer sadism. Choueifat thinks that after days of scaring the hell out of most of us, and after hours of shoving in whatever we can from the text books and tearing our hair out only to get screwed over in the actual exams. SABIS thinks we can revert to a normal school week again, with a weekly as the extra kick in the ribs. But that's not what is really ticking me off today. Recently Choueifat has decided to post more degrading bits of "Brobaganda" around the schools. It's an ironically white piece of paper that states in colourful grey letters in the background "78% SMART". And with full pomposity tries to convince those of us who are moronic enough to believe it, that if you get below an average of 15, than you are either A)Lazy, B) You don't know how to study or C)Stupid. Well it doesn't really say stupid, but it does a really bad job of sugarcoating what it really means. In a desperate attempt to try and pass themselves off as the true Messiahs, they offer after school study sessions, where students are forced against their own will to teach students who would rather not be there, to say the least. It's bad enough we already have the worst school hours for not just any school in the Middle East, but for any school in the World. Horrid as that may seem, what really ticks me off that that they continue to butcher people up inside by making them feel worse off than they already are. But then again it's one of the many lessons in life taught by The G-Man. It all makes sense to him. The crappier you feel, the more inclined you are to do better in life. But then again, I'm sure history has proven that the only way that Einstein, Homer, Pythagoras, Da Vinci, Ghandi, Christ and Mozart all got to where they were by getting good marks on their AMS's and scoring above fifteen on their term finals. I'm sure the butchering of self-esteem, pride and confidence all came as an added perk. Oh, lest I forget ,having their dreams shattered for a fee too. This all goes to ratify a firm opinion I have for SABIS. Their latest scheme reminds me of a quote

"Don't worry, we're only here to help you. The red hot poker's will do you good"

"78% SMART" Such tactics do not motivate students. Instead, it makes them to feel an inadequacy in their academic potential. The goal of any educational system should be to prepare and build up its students which Choueifat fails to do. I will NEVER understand why parents continue to send their children to these schools. I am starting to believe that parents who are Choueifat loyalist truly hate their children and want to destroy any inkling of self esteem they may have.

The link you provided is very small and I almost missed it. It is important to have so I am posting it. Once again, good work and know what you are doing is making a difference. The truth of this system will known.

I agree. We need a whole article dedicated to this!

The stories are SHOCKING to say the least. I've already shown it to an ex-teacher.

Hello,

I have been attending Choueifat for about 14 years now. With each passing day, a little piece of me dies inside. There are so many horrors, I can not even recall them all. I sympathise with all the teachers who have been misled and ended up teaching there and I pity those students who truly and honestly believe Choueifat to be the educational equivalent of the Messiah. You lack creativity, general knowledge, intellect, genuine sentiment, the ability to spell as well as the ability to string together a grammatically correct sentence in any language (unless it is Mathematics or Calculus) Each Tuesday, I seriously ponder throwing myself under a car - perhaps that way, the administration would suspect that under the smiling, polite, SLO slaving exterior, there are some serious problems. Countless students are showing signs of clinical depression but the administration turns a blind eye and dishes out more lies about how to "succeed in life" (basically take every single external exam there is; O-Levels, AS-Levels, A-Levels, APs, SATs, DELF, TOEFL, certificate of idiocy etc.) To the ex-teachers who have suffered alongside us students and made life just a tad bearable by merely listening to us and treating us as people rather than robots - I salute you. To the students who are silently suffering from the sheer stupidity of the sabis system - "Don't give up the fight".

Bon courage.

I am a former traumatized teacher. I am now in Ireland working as a primary school teacher. What you wrote is truly upsetting and outrageous. I find it appalling and shocking that any child should reach this point in their academic experience. The trauma and constant testing and belittling of students and teachers negatively impacts the students ability to grow and thrive and reach their fullest potential.
The Choueifat system is conditioning students to associate learning with negative emotions. It impedes their desire to further their education once they leave the system. Honestly, why would any student who has been so traumatized continue on to university after they reach adulthood? Once your adult, your life is basically your own.
And what does that teach the current students about learning which they themselves become parents. Oh I am sorry kid, I know you’re being abused and mistreated, but hey that is what school and learning is.
The school I work implemented something similar to Choueifat supervisor system. We call these people student guidance managers and they deal with students who are having the most difficulty behaving in school. The difference is that teachers are allows to provide guidance and classroom management within the school setting. The Student guidance managers intervene when traditional classroom management techniques fail. They are required to have a minimum of Bachelors degree in Psychology, Child Development, Social Work, or Education. They then undergo an intensive training session which I have been told includes understanding the underlying cause for the issues which is causing the child to act out. In same case the student guidance managers tutor and provide a form of therapy to the kids.
As for your current situation, please know this to shall pass. Learning does not have to push you to the point where you feel like seriously ponder throwing yourself under a car.
Honestly, I truly enjoyed the children I taught. I tried my best to comfort them when they failed exams. The testing practices of Choueifat are damaging and an ineffective measure of a child’s learning. My heart truly cries for you and other students. As a teacher, there is a choice to not be part of a system which is so damaging. As child, only the parents have choice and I find the parents at the most fault. If parents demanded changes the system would change. They are the ones who are paying for all of this.

Today in my psychology class I learned that unconscious can use self induced amnesia as a defense mechanism so that you don’t have to feel the pain so much. Those students who think the system is great are just utilizing this survival form of amnesia. While all the rest of us know we went through hell at Choueifat. The rest just don’t acknowledge it and pretend everything is great. It is a bit like having a huge tree in your house and everyone keeps walking around pretending it isn’t there. Then one day the tree is so large it takes over the house and everyone is shocked standing around saying “Where did that come from?” That is what will happen with Chouiefat unless things change. I am just glad I made it out of hell alive and somewhat sane. And to all the teachers who say things about parents. I told my parents how bad it was they didn’t care. What I can you is that there is NO WAY in hell I would ever allow my kids to go there.

WOW, JUST WOW
I have seen many comments from teachers here blaming parents for sending their kids to SABIS/CHOUEIFAT schools, but I have found proof that even the parent’s are not happy. At least not happy in with the SABIS school in Arizona, United States of American.
Posted July 4, 2003
I have read all the parent comments so far. What needs to be mentioned here is that SABIS is a business. They are in the business of making money. Teachers and staff care about your kids, however, the company does not. They care that your kids get high scores and that they get to school everyday on time. This is the primary way they make money. The staff was obviously frustrated and overworked. Why else was there so many substitutes everyday and such a high turnover rate of directors. If you measure your child's self worth and success based on test scores then this school is for you. However, if you measure your childs success by how well they love learning and how this experience is going to help them become life-time learners as well as other superior measures, then you need to go somewhere else. As adults, we do not remember the exams we took or what was on page 23 of our math books. However, we do remember the love, visions, inspirations and positive learning experiences given to us by teachers. We also remember the bad experiences and want our children to experience the positives. Having power is an illusion and a myth at this school. No one seems to have power to make major changes. Parent connection, teachers, staff, and certainly not the multitude of directors. You scramble through the red tape to find out who does. The only power is the power of choice. If the more than 700 parents choose not to bring their children, or staff members decide to strike, then maybe Sabis will get the message. With the recent loss of a few more schools, maybe they already have. You would think that a business that has been around for more than 100 years in education would be able to communicate at the highest level, serve their public and maintain a core dedicated staff.
What's wrong with this picture?

SABIS needs to change their attitude towards teachers and student discipline. SABIS has no respect for teachers. They have no concept of how to hold students accountable for their actions when it comes to rude and disruptive behavior in the school. How can a teacher be successful when they are verbally abused by administration and physically abuse by the students? The level of parent involvement does not exist. Parents have to go through many channels to speak with staff to get answers or even ask a question. On a scale of 1 to 10 parent involvement is scaled at -7

The 'teachers' that have good morals and ethics soon leave there because of the major problems. I certainly left and I'm so happy I did. It's a joke that they call this a school.

Sabis International school is an absolute joke. Business is what is all about. They do not care about the education of a child. They concentrate on how much money they can make. The teacher turn-over is worrying. The management of all SABIS schools is a disaster.

This school has no parent teacher contact, teachers are switched around like a marry-go-round, and you get no response from the administrators. My daughter s first year of school was a horrible experience and I will never forgive myself for placing her in such an unstable facility.

I have been waiting for a forum to express my dissatisfaction with Sabis. I purchased a home in 2004 and thought that Sabis would be the best school for my children in the area. I was 100% mistaken. I am dissatisfied with the parent/teacher interaction. If I receive a call from the school, they have no details to share with me, if I want to visit the school, I have to give 24hrs notice. I go to pick up my children and the little kids are running wild and cursing. To my delight I am moving to the Kyrene school district where I know I will get the quality that I am looking for. I am extremely upset with the quality of education in the South Mountain area and with the Roosevelt school district. )O:

My child had good teachers but my child won't be comming back to Sabis. He will miss his friends. He didn't like that the teachers had to use all the same books and not anything else. He hated that their were not field trips. He got yelled at by the upper school aqc for something He didn't even do and then she lied about it to cover herself. The tests were wrong a lot. His teachers had to correct the textbooks that Sabis wrote! That's bad when the kids found mistakes in the books! Then the kids didn't have any principles becaause they kept getting fired. You know if my child was a owner of a school he would set a better example for my students. That's why he is going to another school. I have told them and they didn't care. Too bad because his other friends and there parents are taking there kids out too. Anything is better than this place where you get beat up and you're smarter than the books.

July 12, 2003
My daughter was an A student. She has to go to summer school because her average dropped to less than 60%. My son was a B student and he is attending summer school also. The teachers care about the children but all decisions are made in Lebanon and in their U.S. offices in Minnesota. The children lose two days of instruction every week to testing. Then nothing was done with the results. I was told all concepts would be retaught if they failed the tests. My son and daughter were both injured at school by bullies. One boy beat my son with his belt and he was allowed to return to school. SABIS seems to be in the business of making money and doesnt care much about my children's achievement. The extra curricular activities they were promised turned out to be checkers and gameboards for an hour a day. My children will not return to this school in the fall.

The comments go and on. Parents who have choices and care about their children’s futures don’t leave them in SABIS/CHOUEIFAT schools. They place them in schools which have PROVEN success rates and not just made up half truths.

FYI: A close friend of mine, the writer X, of the articles of this webpage has just been reprimanded the previous week as the school administration has found out about this webpage and has decided to stop X's registration for the upcoming academic year of 08-09. This brings me to a similiar incident which happened earlier this year, in which the 9th graders of Choueifat School, Dubai, were reprimanded for being members of a Facebook group named after the director of the school. In said group, the students simply declared their dislike for the school's director and his wife.
Below is a link to the article:
http://www.7days.ae/showstory.php?id=59369

As for this recent and unjust incident, something must be done in favour of the writer, for freedom of speech (and it isn't slander when it is the truth) isn't a crime.

The main problem is the students do not have the confidence nor courage to stand up for what is right, thinking they'll also be pulled down right alongside the writer. The school has no right interfering with the students' lives outside school, especially on the internet.

Hi, i'm just ur average revolutionary who attends this hell whole... and i have to say that the things that are happening here are piss me off! The only thing that prevents me from starting a full riot would be the fact that the ppl have subcum to the propaganda that this embassy to hell has sent out! Also the fact that they are punishing the ppl who are in-control of this site just shows how insecure they are! They know we hate it! They know there are revolutionaries here in their prision who work to put an end to it! Therefore proves the fact that it is just of matter of time before THE PRISION OF THE DAMNED! will witness the riots, protests and revolts that have only been witnessed in RUSSIA during the revolution of 1917! IT SHALL FALL!!! The dictators shall BURN! AND the acursed tree that is the symbol of Tyranny will put to the FLAME! WE are like the chimera! If they cut off 1 head 2 more shall sprout! Now This is a message to all the infedels (dictators of chouiefat) who are monitoring this site... WE SHALL NOT STOP! WE SHALL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT! WE SHALL FIGHT FOR WHATS RIGHT! AND THERE IS NOT A GOD DAMN THING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT! IT MAY NOT BE NOW! IT MAY NOT BE IN A FEW YEARS FROM NOW BUT YOUR DICTATORIST REGIME SHALL FALL! IT IS DESTINED TO! ALL EMPIRES ARE! LIKE THE PERSIAN EMPIRE... OR THE GERMAN REICH OR THE USSR! Your empire has already started to crumble... ur fortesses of evil have already fallen in the US! IT is the start of your demise! you can not oppress us forever! FOR FREEDOM!!! DEATH TO THE DICTATORS!!!
Sincerely,
Your Average Revolutionary

78% was one of the stupidest things that Choueifat ever printed.

If they consider above 78% smart, then why is 80% the passing mark?

Another "propaganda" piece was the "How to get 100% in your finals". I'd really like to hear what you have to say on that.

Choueifat.........SABIS..........Intered.......what next? .........Yes you guessed it the "Cambridge school " in Romania!!!

My God he is so wasted in SABIS. I dont even know why he isnt running for President of the USA...I know hes a LEB but hey that shouldnt stop a man of such talents. Well theres still time for him...after all hes only 75! God bless you Germanos for all the souls you have touched over the years....you ll never EVER NEVER EVER be forgotten!!

Why didnt the CIA / FBI or the Mafia snatch this man up?
Because all three of these have a higher level of moral standard than the SABIS/Choueifat system :).

Many of the long term administration and Lebanon mafia thugs display many of the behavioral characteristics of a sociopath. Listed below are the signs and symptoms of what is commonly referred as Choueifat/SABIS Syndrome. As of yet, there is no known treatment other than removalofheadfromass surgery. Procedure is only successful if used during the early onset of the disorder.

They believe they are superior, and they are not widely recognized as deviant or disturbed.

Glibness/Superficial Charm
Language can be used without effort by them to confuse and convince naïve governmental officials, teachers, students and parents alike.

Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors permissible. They may appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They dominate and humiliate their victims.
Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as "their right." Craves adulation and attendance. Must be the center of attention with their own fantasies as the "spokesman for God," "enlightened," "leader of humankind," etc. Creates an us-versus-them mentality
Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities.
Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of having teachers and students who deserve respect, they have victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.
Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person.
Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge, yet testing the gullibility of teachers and students with bizarre rules, punishments and behaviors. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal.

Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them. Their skills are used to exploit, abuse and exert power.
Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of support and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believes they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others. They see themselves as near perfect.

Irresponsibility/Unreliability
Not concerning about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blame students and teachers. Blame reinforces passivity and obedience and produces guilt, shame, terror and conformity in the students and teachers.
Other Related Qualities:
Contemptuous of those who seek to understand them
Does not perceive that anything is wrong with them
Authoritarian
Secretive
Paranoid
Goal of enslavement of their victim(s)
Exercises despotic control over every aspect of their victim's life
Ultimate goal is the creation of a willing victim
Incapable of real human attachment to another
Unable to feel remorse or guilt
Extreme narcissism and grandiose
May state readily that their goal is to rule the world
